The Challenge
The community of Ugwu Aguobowa faced significant obstacles to accessing clean, reliable water. Our team encountered:
Power Instability: A chronic lack of adequate electricity power supply, which frequently cripples local water schemes, leaving communities underserved.
Difficult Strata: Impeded drilling progress due to difficult rock formations, silt, and mud.
The Solution
Dunon Synergy Projects delivered a robust, sustainable, and integrated solution to overcome these challenges, ensuring long-term water security for the community.
1. Advanced Geophysical Mapping: Before drilling, we employed Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) to accurately delineate the 5–7 geological layers typical of Enugu State. This precision mapping ensured the borehole was sited in an area with maximum groundwater potential, avoiding “dry” zones and optimizing yield.
2. Deep Aquifer Access & Pumping: We utilized advanced industrial-grade pumps (up to 150 HP), capable of extracting water from deep aquifers that remain productive even during the dry season.
3. Renewable Energy Integration: To solve the “insufficient power supply” issue, the entire water scheme was converted to run entirely on solar energy, providing a reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable power source for the pumping system.
4. Integrated Reticulation Networks: Our service included the construction of extensive distribution lines (up to 15km) to transport water efficiently from the high-yield zone directly to underserved urban and rural areas.
5. Sustainable Maintenance & Training: To prevent the common cycle of project abandonment, we established multi-year maintenance agreements (e.g., 2-year oversight) and provided comprehensive training to local Water Corporation staff on managing the sophisticated solar and pumping equipment long-term.
